The Squid and the Whale - This is one of my recent favorite films ( dark comedy ). It's grand on soooooooooooo many levels. The acting is phenomenal (the guy from dumb and dumber Jeff Daniels did amazing ). The scenery of new york and the pompous intellectual attitude of the father and the false image the son portrays to link closer to his father and omg so good.
Is this the movie title that led to the infamous nickname? What nickname? I'm confused  |

Back on topic now....I went to see In Bruges this weekend and I really liked it. We seem to be going to a ton of movies now that we quit smoking. Funny that.... I have also seen a few previews for this movie..... It looks rather fucked up. Can't wait to go see it  |

I do so love the Independant Film Channel. It's my new favorite station. Satellite ftw! The other night I saw a movie called the Confederate States of America. It was kind of a "what-if" alternate reality where the South won the Civil War. However, the movie was done like a documentary that chronicled the last 140 yrs of American history. Sprinbkled throughout the movie were commercials like you'd see during a movie on tv, but not for products you would, most likely, see today. It was actually quite interesting and pretty entertaining. I highly recommend it if you get a chance to see it though I don't know how easy it is to find. |

Just got done watching Wristcutters: A Love Story and it made me happy. Interesting movie idea  . And finally an ending that didn't piss me off for once /cheer . |

I just watched Rachel Getting Married and I have to say it was a damn good movie. Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a good thinking movie versus a basic enjoying movie. Edit: Added clip |

We've been on a movie renting kick the last two weekends. Last weekend: I was actually quite pleased with the movie. I think it was a fairly balanced portrayal, or at least not as negative as it could have been. It was also well acted with one exception....I think the chick playing Condaleeza Rice forgot she wasn't on Saturday Night Live. She went way overboard with mimicing her speech and mannerisms. This weekend we watched Religulous, which Funks had posted about earlier in this thread. It was awesome, we actually watched it twice. The end where he kind of sums up his thoughts on the matter is quite good. Highly recommend it.  |
